Sierra Leone
Orphaned babies in Africa face a big risk. In Sierra Leone one in four women die in childbirth. State homes care for many of the orphans in deploring conditions. Sick children are looked at as an unwanted burden and are left to die.
On our recent trip to Sierra Leone, in October, we were able to rent a house, provide finance for food, take many suitcases of baby clothes, and hire "aunties" to care for these babies.
